Terms of Service

1. The service

TritonPath is an unofficial planner for UC San Diego courses, requirements, quarters, schedules, maps, and student reviews. It is not an official university system. Short version for students: At a glance.

2. Not UC San Diego, not advising

TritonPath is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or maintained by UC San Diego or the University of California. Names and course information appear only to describe public offerings.

Catalog data, section times, enrollment, requirements, generated schedules, grade chips, and reviews can be wrong. Confirm with a UCSD advisor, VAC, the official catalog, WebReg, and your college or major before you enroll.

Nothing here is academic, registrar, or financial-aid advice. Following a plan does not guarantee you will meet degree requirements.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be able to form a contract. Meant for college students. If you are under 18, use the service with a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. You are responsible for activity on your account. Use Contact or Profile if you think someone else used it.

Accounts that violate these terms, or that harm the service or other users, may be refused, suspended, or deleted.

4. Your content

You own what you enter. You grant TritonPath a limited license to host signed-in plan data to run the service, and to show reviews to other signed-in students without showing who wrote them.

Only upload records you have the right to use. Do not upload someone else’s records, malware, or unlawful content.

Reviews should be your own honest experience. An optional grade is self-reported, not an official record. Do not include another student’s name, email, or student id. You can report a review; a report stores a short reason with a one-way code, not your name.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Scrape, overload, or probe the service
• Bypass rate limits or access controls
• Spam, impersonate, or send malware
• Access another user’s data or unmask a reviewer
• Submit fake, paid, or extra-account reviews
• Post threats, doxxing, or unlawful review content
• Republish TritonPath data as if it were official UCSD data
• Use the service for anything unlawful

We may hide or remove reviews that are reported or that violate these terms.

6. Third-party services

Sign-in, hosting, analytics, fonts, maps, rate limits, and the contact form use third parties (Supabase, Vercel, Google, FormSubmit, Upstash, Esri / UC San Diego GIS). Their terms apply. We are not responsible for their outages or acts. Links out of the app (for example Google Maps) are not part of TritonPath.

7. Intellectual property

TritonPath branding, UI, and original code belong to TritonPath. Course titles and university marks belong to their owners. Grade chips come from the A.S. Instructor Grade Archive. Do not use TritonPath branding to suggest official UCSD endorsement.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that data is accurate, that schedules will work in WebReg, that reviews reflect every student, or that the service will be uninterrupted.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TritonPath will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost credits, delayed graduation, missed enrollment, or academic decisions you make using the app.

Total liability will not exceed the greater of (a) what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (currently $0) or (b) $25. Some places do not allow certain limits; there, liability is limited to the maximum allowed. This does not limit liability that cannot be limited under California law (including fraud or willful misconduct).

10. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify TritonPath against claims from your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these terms, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

11. Termination

You may stop anytime and delete your account in Profile. That removes your saved plan, scheduler data, reviews, and reports. We may discontinue the service. Disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnity survive.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change. Continued use means you accept the revised terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service and delete your account.

13. Governing law

California law governs, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in San Diego County have exclusive jurisdiction, except that injunctive relief may be sought in any court for misuse of the service or TritonPath IP.
