Terms of Service

1. The service

TritonPath is an independent, unofficial web app for exploring UC San Diego courses, tracking requirements, mapping quarters, and trying section schedules. It is a planning aid, not an official university system.

2. Not UC San Diego, not advising

TritonPath is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or maintained by the University of California, San Diego or the University of California. Names and course information appear only to describe publicly available academic offerings.

Catalog listings, section times, enrollment snapshots, tentative offerings, requirement trees, transfer articulations, and generated schedules can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. Always confirm with a UC San Diego academic advisor, the Virtual Advising Center, the official catalog, WebReg, and your college or major department before you enroll or rely on a plan.

Nothing on TritonPath is academic, registrar, or financial-aid advice. TritonPath does not promise that following a plan will meet degree, college, or graduation requirements.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be able to form a contract (generally 18 or older, or with parent/guardian consent where required). Keep your login to yourself. You are responsible for activity on your account. Use Contact or Profile if you think someone else used it.

Accounts that violate these terms, or that reasonably appear to be harming the service or other users, may be refused, suspended, or deleted.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the plan data you enter (courses, grades, imports, scheduler drafts, and similar). You grant TritonPath a limited license to host and process that data solely to run the service for you.

You represent that you have the right to upload anything you import (transcripts, audits, AP reports, pasted text). Do not upload someone else’s records without permission. Do not upload malware or content that is unlawful.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Scrape, overload, or probe the service in a way that disrupts it or other users
• Bypass rate limits, authentication, or access controls
• Use TritonPath to send spam, malware, or to impersonate others
• Try to access another user’s account or data
• Republish TritonPath requirement encodings or scraped dumps as if they were official UCSD data
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose

6. Third-party services

Sign-in, hosting, analytics, fonts, and the contact form rely on third parties (including Supabase, Vercel, Google, and FormSubmit). Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services. TritonPath is not responsible for those providers’ acts or outages.

7. Intellectual property

TritonPath’s branding, UI, and original code belong to TritonPath (the app source is also available on GitHub under the MIT License). Course titles, descriptions, and university marks belong to their owners. You may not use TritonPath branding in a way that suggests official UC San Diego endorsement.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, TritonPath disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. TritonPath does not warrant that data is accurate, complete, or current, that schedules are conflict-free in WebReg, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TritonPath and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost credits, delayed graduation, missed enrollment, or academic decisions you make using the app.

TritonPath’s total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount paid for the service in the 12 months before the claim (currently $0) or (b) twenty-five US dollars ($25). Some places do not allow certain limits; in those places, liability is limited to the maximum extent allowed. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under California law (including for fraud or willful misconduct).

10. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify TritonPath against claims arising from your use of the service, your content (including uploads), or your violation of these terms, except to the extent caused by TritonPath’s willful misconduct.

11. Termination

You may stop using TritonPath at any time and delete your account in Profile. The service, or access to it, may be discontinued. Provisions that should survive (including disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnity) remain in effect.

12. Changes

These terms may be updated. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service and delete your account.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in San Diego County, California have exclusive jurisdiction, except that injunctive relief may be sought in any court for misuse of the service or TritonPath intellectual property.
